Animating the large outdoor entrance plaza of the South Surrey Recreation and Art Centre, RIBBON signifies, in its vigorous form, how South Surrey embraces people of all ages in a place that nourishes body, mind and spirit. RIBBON celebrates art and athletics, inviting the community to participate in recreational and cultural pursuits. The energy and playfulness of RIBBON’s looping shape reminds us of the ribbons used in rhythmic gymnastics and the colors of the costumes in dances of various cultures. RIBBON also symbolizes the winding path of the Semiahmoo Trail in Surrey.
