Richgate Banners
Series of photographs on synthetic fibre, each 48 × 24 in. (with Richgate Research Group).
Installation view: Richmond Community Centre, Library and Art Gallery Plaza, Richmond City Hall Art Gallery, Richmond, Canada.
This series of photographic banners were installed in the large outdoor plaza of the Richmond Community Centre, Library and Art Gallery and in the Richmond City Hall Art Gallery. Each banner represents a portrait of an immigrant family who have made Richmond BC their home. It celebrates the cultural diversity of the city and presents an informal, personal portrait beside the entrance to their family home as both an assertive gesture and a welcoming one reaching out to others in the community. This public art project was produced with the support of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
